After
today, no female wrestler will be able to bring an Olympic
medal for India.Because our system doesn't respect our players.
In January, some well-known faces came down to the streets and started protesting. In which, Olympic medalists, like Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, and Vinesh Phogat were involved They are saying that, the President of the Wrestling Federation, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh sexually assaulted some female wrestlers.
One
of the wrestlers is also a minor. This
protest started in January. Then,
the wrestlers were assured that
action would be taken. But now that April has come
to an end and seeing no action being
taken, our wrestlers are upset. In this video, we will learn why are the wrestlers protesting. What are the details?
And
what can we do to stop such conflicts in the future? We make videos in such a simple language on the
important issues of India so

Chapter 1: What is happening?
Let's understand why our
star wrestlers are protesting and what they want from the government. The story begins in January
2023, when
champion wrestler Vinesh Phogat started receiving many calls from young wrestlers. In Lucknow, a national
wrestling camp was
being organized. And on
these calls, the girls said that the atmosphere here could be unsafe for the
girls. Here
these young girls also said that the Wrestling Federation of India's President, Brij Bhushan
Sharan Singh sexually
assaulted them.
He
is not only the chief of the wrestling federation, but also a big leader of BJP
and
also an MP. After this, these protests
started in which many wrestlers
participated. After this, in our Sports
Ministry, this national camp slated
to happen in Lucknow, was cancelled. The news about the protest kept spreading more and
more girls started coming forward. In an interview, Vinesh Phogat saidthat first, there
were 2-3 girls who
could prove sexual harassment with proof. Now, there are 5-6 girls who have come forward. Some calls are from Kerala, some
calls are also from Maharashtra.
Our Sports Minister, Anurag Thakur and the Indian Olympic Association's,President, P.T. Usha, met these wrestlers and assured them that there would be an investigation on the allegations. Babita Phogat, who is a BJP leader herself, even she said that the government is with them and will listen to the wrestlers. But the President of the Wrestling Federation, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said that all the allegations are baseless.
And even if one girl can prove that I have done something wrong, then I should be hanged. He said that the wrestlers participating in
the protest will not be able to get any
medal for India after this.
The
reality is they are angry with some rules and
are protesting in this frustration. This
protest is being sponsored by a big businessman. He said that not all the wrestlers are protesting, only a few wrestlers are protesting. In response to
which, Bajrang Punia posted
this video on his Instagram, showing
how many wrestlers are connected with him. In January, this protest got calmed when our Sports Minister, Anurag Thakur announced of forming an
Oversight Committee. And he
also said that in just four weeks, this
committee will complete its investigation.
Until
this investigation is completed Brij
Bhushan will be removed from his post.Even the Indian Olympic Association formed a seven-member committee, which will be under the charge of our national hero, Mary Kom.
This year is important for
our wrestlers because
this year the Olympic qualifiers are going to happen. So, the wrestlers stopped
this protest in January and
started waiting for the process to end. Now the question is, who is this Brij Bhushan?
Chapter 2: Who is Brij Bhushan Singh?
A few days ago, we released a video about the assassination of Atiq Ahmed. Where we explained what is the connection between crime and politics. Here we touched an important issue that why our criminals become our politicians
and keep getting elected
again and again. We
didn't imagine, we would be touching this topic again so soon.
Anyway,
let's know who Brij Bhushan Singh is. A few
hours from Lucknow, is Gonda district. They
say that whenever a train passes by here, the
police instruct to shut the windows of the train. Because anyone can put his hand in and do away with your chain.
From
here, from the 1990s till date, six times, Brij Bhushan Singh got elected and became an MP. Local people of Gonda say that here Brij Bhushan is so strong that it doesn't matter from which party he fights. The symbol of a party is just a symbol, People vote only for Brij Bhushan. In 2004, BJP gave him a ticket from Balrampur.
A
candidate named Ghanshyam Shukla from Gonda was given a ticket. Coincidentally, on the day of polling, Shukla died in a road accident. On this matter, even Atal ji suspects that this coincidence,is not a coincidence,is
something else. When he was in jail,
his
wife fought the elections in his place and she won. In an interview with Indian Express, he said that he doesn't need any party. The party needs him. Because whenever he gets down for elections, only he wins. In an
interview with Lallantop last year, he
self-confessed to murder. But
still then, no action was taken against him.
Apart
from this, he has against him, IPC
Section 307, attempt to murder, 147
spreading nuisance, 148 possessing deadly
weapon. 149, unlawful assembly with
common object. There are many such
allegations. During the Babri Masjid
demolition, he was a prime suspect. He gets out of any case leveled against him. Sometimes evidence doesn't come to the fore, some others times people don't get to the court.
Means
you can understand how powerful is this person and how weak is our justice system. Today, he has opened more than 50 educational
institutes. From 2011, back to back, after winning the election of the Wrestling
Federation of India, he has kept becoming the
President.
He
organizes local wrestling tournaments in his area. In these tournaments, if a referee's decision is to be challenged, the player goes to him. Takes his blessings
and
his decision is the final decision. A
video of him slapping a player on the stage had also gone viral. You must have watched the movie, Dangal.
The
character which Amir Khan played,
Can
he be so strong that from the Prime
Minister to the Chief Minister,
he
criticizes everyone and no action is taken
against him. Against such a person, wrestler have declared a war.
Chapter 3: Why
did the protest start again?
Wrestlers
are fed up with this slow process. They say, they want to register a
case against Brij Bhushan. Now, the Supreme Court has also
said that the Delhi Police this Friday,
that is,
by 28th of April, will have to definitely take some action. Many
people ask
why the
girls making sexual harassment accusations not
coming forward. You may have understood the reason from the history
of Brij Bhushan. One particular point of the wrestlers is quite
good.
When the
wrestlers win medals, our leaders encourage them, praise them. But when
the same wrestlers face any problem, why do our leaders sit quietly? They say
that if our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi ji or Home
Minister, Amit Shah ji
are ready
to meet them, then the girls who are accusing, can meet
them with proof.
Don't you
think to take action against such a person asking
for Prime Minister's help is a fair demand?
One
against whom there are already so many serious cases like murder, and who
has been acquitted earlier from this, and think, if we do not listen to
their demands today, what will happen to our sports tomorrow?
Had faith in our Prime Minister that some action would definitely be taken. But due to this delay, now the wrestlers are upset and are now seeking the support of the whole country. Are inviting every political party. If tomorrow this protest becomes political, then every political party will use this stage to spread their agendas and it is not known who will benefit from this, but the whole country will be at a loss. It is better that all the demands of these wrestlers are heard at urgency.
Highest
officials should study their accusations and take some action immediately,
otherwise
this protest can become big. Different types of people can
participate in these and the focus of the country can get diverted.
This year
we are the host of G20, so this year is very important for India. That's
why we need to take immediate action on such issues. Simultaneously
elections of Wrestling Federation of India are coming up.
Brij
Bhushan has said that he'll not stand for these elections. He will follow the
whole process and will wait for the government investigation to
end. There is good news for wrestlers, there is
a ray of hope. But he has said that he
will not contest just for the post of a president. After 4
years he can definitely apply for the post of an office bearer. And can
also come back after getting elected. Looking at his past, it seems
that he
will definitely contest the elections, and if he contests the elections,
he will
definitely come out victorious.
Today our
wrestlers are saying that the whole wrestling federation
has
become corrupt. The whole system needs an overhaul. And
perhaps this same logic needs to be applied not only in wrestling, but also
in different sports.
Chapter
Four: Conclusion.
India is
the most amazing country in the world. The people whom we consider as
heroes one day, when the same people come on the street, we do not
listen to them, we delay. Imagine, in this case, these are
wrestling stars, are Olympic medal winners.
That's
why media and many leaders are taking them seriously. But if
these were unknown athletes, new athletes, would
anyone had taken them seriously Only 17% of women
are part of the workforce in our country.
Here we
are talking about general workforce, not sports. Means
even today in 2023,
girls
going out of the house and working is a taboo topic. So imagine what will
happen in a male-dominant sports field?
Sport
which anyhow is a male-dominant field. From there if the news of such
sexual harassment starts to come, so will any parents send their
girls into sports. And if no one goes into sports, then how
will we bring medals?
How will
India move forward? A question always comes to my mind, from
cricket to wrestling, at the helm of all the sports federations why there
is only a politician.
Why don't
we make athletes the heads. Because ex-athletes know
about all the problems.
The
problems they had to face, they can solve them. Can
improve the sports of whole India, and that too without any
political agenda.
What is
the problem?
Where are
the gaps? We desperately need to ask ourselves all these
questions.
Because
as much happiness we get by these athletes winning medals, we should
be equally sad to see them on the road.
